THE IMPORTANCE OF INVESTING IN MEMORIES

Since the early days of photography, its essence has revolved around the possibility of capturing moments in visual and easy to carry on objects…

Some which sooner or later influence our memories and identities in a vividly unbeatable way.

The wonders of technology have made it possible for photography to be everywhere at any time, making all memories subject to being recorded and shared. Unfortunately that same gift has also diluted the perception of what truly deserves to be captured in time. Having the ability of registering everything around us, and sharing it in real time, has impacted our notion of the memorable stuff. And by that, I mean those few iconic milestones that constitute the most important chapters in the story of our lives. For that matter, professional photographers with a proper visual education and a keen understanding of light, are more important than ever!

Portraits have been with us since WAY before iphoneographers, and they all have been usually created within the context of important accomplishments or meaningful moments in life. Becoming a high school senior, periodical family portraiture as the pack increases in number, and even corporate headshots are part of our American culture of moments that deserve a proper portrait photograph. Along with these very few examples, there are many other personal reasons why people make the decision of leaving the selfies aside, and investing in a professional portrait for themselves.

Since 2013, I have encountered a countless amount of inspiring and deeply personal stories behind so many portraits, that I am now convinced that photography has the power of making our lives more vivid and memorable when looking to the past.

As I embrace the new year and the changes we will make at JollyJenPhotography studio, I am thankful for another year of opportunity to capture irreplaceable moments that my clients will cherish throughout their lifetime. GRATITUDE is my “word of the year” because I am thankful and appreciative EVERY day to provide this experience along with performing the job I love. Thank you- Jen
